![]()
Millie is a farmer’s daughter with a strong interest in dairy science and artisan dairy production. After completing her Food and Consumer Studies degree at Harper Adams University, which included a placement year in new product development with Dairy Crest. After graduating she spent a year working for an artisan cheese biscuit company before returning to Harper Adams to undertake a PhD. Her research focused on the structure and function of double emulsions in reduced fat cheese.
Following completion of her PhD, Millie worked with Sustaining Shropshire, supporting local businesses on a consultancy basis with HACCP and new product development, as well as working as a visiting lecturer at Harper Adams University.
Alongside her academic background, Millie runs her own artisan cheese business, The Dairy Door, based on the family farm. Although primarily a beef and sheep farm, Millie spends much of her time helping with the sheep.
Millie was actively involved in the Young Farmers’ organisation for many years, including serving as County Chairman of the Shropshire Federation and helping to organise the first Rural Careers Fair. She is also Chief Steward of the Food Hall at Burwarton Show, where she helps organise and set up the cookery demonstration stage.
Outside of work (when time allows) Millie enjoys good food, crafting, walking the dogs across the Shropshire hills and spending time with family and friends.
